What is it that makes the combination of nuts, fruit and chocolate irresistible? Is it the crunchiness of the nuts or the smooth richness of the chocolate or the crisp zing of the dried fruit? When you add all those together you get Nutty Chocolate Balls. They are super easy to make and have only 4 ingredients, so they will not break any budget.
For the Nutty Chocolate Balls I used milk chocolate, but you can use dark or white chocolate. Milk Chocolate is my personal preference when it comes to chocolate. It’s not as rich as dark chocolate and not as sweet as white chocolate – it’s just perfect in the middle.
Nutty Chocolate Balls
Preparation time: 20 minutes (+settling time)
Makes: 35 – 40 pieces
100 gr Chopped Hazelnuts
200 gr Milk Chocolate (I used Green & Blacks Organic Milk Chocolate 34% cocoa)
1/2 cup Dried Cranberries
1 cup Mini Marshmallows
Break the chocolate into small pieces and transfer them into a heat-proof bowl. Place the heat-proof bowl with the chocolate pieces in it over boiling water without the bowl actually touching the water.
Melt the chocolate while continuously mixing.
Transfer the melted chocolate into a medium bowl.
Add the chopped hazelnuts and dried cranberries.
Make sure that the chocolate mix is not hot before you add the mini marshmallows. Mix well.
Let the mix stand for 5-10 minutes. In the meanwhile lay out small cupcake or petit four cases on a tray or a baking tray. With two spoons or melon scoopers make small balls out of the mixture and transfer them into the paper cases.
Transfer the Nutty Chocolate Balls into the refrigerator to settle for at least 30 – 60 minutes.
Store in the refrigerator.
