This Bank Holiday Weekend may I introduce you to Lumumba Float. Never had Lumumba before? Lumumba is either hot chocolate or cold chocolate milk mixed with brandy. Sound delicious? It is – both cold and hot. It’s like dessert in a cup.
My Lumumba Float is made with hot chocolate and topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. Super-easy to make and tastes divine! Excellent as a liquid dessert. And perfect to enjoy while listening to Christina Aguilera’s Candyman.
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Makes: 2 drinks
80 ml Brandy
500 ml milk
Hot Chocolate Mix (14 tbsp Green & Black’s Organic Hot Chocolate Drink Mix)
4 scoops of vanilla ice cream (Carte d’Or Vanilla Ice Cream)
Cocoa for decoration (optional)
Prepare the Hot Chocolate. In a medium pan heat the milk over medium heat to boiling point. Add the hot chocolate mix to the hot milk and blend well. Pour 40 ml Brandy into each heatproof glass.
Divide the hot chocolate between the two glasses. Stir until mixed.
You can either warm up the empty glasses by filling them with boiling water or put each glass with the brandy and hot chocolate mix into the microwave for about 20 seconds, so that the Lumumba is at ideal temperature for the float. Top the Lumumba with one large scoop or two medium scoops of ice cream. Serve immediately.
If desired decorate by dusting cocoa on top of the ice cream.
