Cocktail Hour: Sidecar Goes Green

Sidecar Goes Green 3 marthafied

With the release of The Great Gatsby a while ago all things twenties came back into the limelight. Our Sidecar Goes Green cocktail is based on a very stiff twenties cocktail called Sidecar, which is made from only three ingredients: cognac, Cointreau and lemon juice. The ratio used in measuring is 3-2-1; which makes Sidecar a cocktail that will knock your pants off.

Sidecar Goes Green 1 marthafiedI do sometimes like a stiff drink, but the original Sidecar is a bit too strong-tasting for my palate. So I decided to try to make it more to my taste and Sidecar Goes Green was born. The green color and mellower taste comes from Midori which is a melon liqueur. You can use any melon liqueur, but Midori is my favorite as it’s not too sweet. I have also strayed a little bit from the original ingredient ratio as otherwise cognac is quite overpowering.
