Pantone Color Institute announces fashion colors for Spring 2014

I don’t know what I imagined the good people at Pantone Inc. actually do to determine the colours we’ll all be obsessing over a year from now, but it turns our its a lot more mundane than the crystal balls, glittering turbans and flickering candlelight I imagined to be involved. They basically just survey designers (and other creatives) what colour palettes they have in development for the upcoming season and compile a list of must-have colours. The winner for Spring 2014 was “Dazzling Blue” (they also come up with fabulous names for the colours. Dazzling Blue is basically cobalt or electric blue. Or Facebook for short…lol) closely followed by Violet Blue (Lavender to you and me) and Kate Middleton single handedly raised “Radiant Orchid”  (fuchsia) to number 3 spot by wearing a Seraphine dress of the same colour for her first official pic with Prince George.  Find full details on all 10 published colours on Pantone’s website, but here are a few inspiration boards to get your juices flowing from the top fab four.
